A shocking infrastructure failure unfolded in southwest China as the Hongqi Bridge in Maerkang, Sichuan province, partially collapsed on Tuesday, only months after construction was completed. No casualties have been reported. According to a report, the 758-meter-long bridge - part of a major highway connecting central China to Tibet - had shown signs of distress earlier this week. On Monday afternoon, engineers noticed cracks in the roadbed and nearby slopes and closed the bridge to traffic. #DN
