The men were targeted under Operation Lighthouse, an initiative led by federal and local law enforcement agencies to charge rideshare drivers accused of sexually assaulting female riders.
An Uber driver was shot last week while picking up riders in Antioch. Police said he was not the intended target. Struck in the neck by a bullet on Jan. 8, the Uber driver instinctively drove away to safety and called 911. He is expected to survive.
Taxi driver Robert Miller, who acted as their spokesperson at the meeting, and called for the Uber app to be cut off in the district. "Uber does not have a CDC licence to operate in the Cotswolds," he said. "That means that cars that are coming into the area - and we have quite a number of them - are operating outside of the regulations."
